CAIRO – 4 July 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi received, Thursday a phone call from President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The two Presidents reviewed ways to enhance bilateral relations and welcomed the recent momentum in the two countries’ cooperation. They underscored their keenness on expanding the prospects of this cooperation to include an array of sectors, in line with the brotherly ties between their peoples.
President Sisi reiterated Egypt's commitment to Somalia’s security, stability, and sovereignty over its territories, and confirmed its support in the face of the various security and developmental challenges.
President Sisi and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also discussed the situation in the Horn of Africa region. They emphasized their commitment to ensuring the security and stability of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden region, which positively reflects on the Horn of Africa and its peoples.
The two Presidents confirmed their rejection of any unilateral actions that could undermine regional stability, reiterating the importance of all regional states’ commitment to the frameworks of cooperation to achieve stability and development for their peoples.
