Egypt to launch early cancer detection campaign in 9 governorates

CAIRO - 28 June 2024: The Ministries of Social Solidarity and Health and Population will launch on Sunday the activities of the “Sooner is Safer” campaign, in nine governorates across the Republic, encouraging citizens to undergo early detection and treatment of various cancerous tumors.
 
This comes in conjunction with the commemoration of the Presidential Initiative for Early Detection and Treatment of Cancer Tumors, in June 2023, setting a new record for the largest cancer awareness sign in the world in the Guinness Book of World Records.
 
Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, announced the intensive presence of the “Sooner is Safer” campaign for women starting at the age of 18.
 
It is a free campaign sponsored by the Ministries of Health, Population, and Social Solidarity, where awareness of the importance of early detection and the goals of the campaign will be spread among citizens, through the participation of 3,000 social leaders urging citizens to Turnout and reassurance about their health.
 
Al-Kabbaj stressed that Social Solidarity is honored to provide all means of support to the Ministry of Health and Population in close cooperation in order to enhance family and women’s health, through coordination between intermediate and grassroots civil associations close to society, and that solidarity includes that cooperation through the “Equal Opportunities” program funded by State budget for social solidarity.
 
She also reported the importance of cooperation between the Directorates of Health and Population and the Directorates of Social Solidarity, in addition to employing the energies and relationships of social pioneers to raise awareness and mobilize citizens for early detection and reassurance of their health.
 
She also explained that the campaign will launch on Sunday in the governorates of Cairo, Qalyubia, Beheira, Damietta, Alexandria, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Assiut, and Sohag, noting that the daily campaign hours will start from 10 am to 6 pm, and the campaign will include the services provided under the umbrella of the President of the Republic’s initiatives to support women’s health, early detection and treatment of liver cancer patients, early detection and treatment of cancerous tumors in the lung, colon, prostate and cervix.
