CAIRO – 11 June 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on the sidelines of International Conference on the Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza, which is held in Jordan.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, said the President confirmed Egypt’s unwavering position in support of the Palestinian cause, emphasizing its commitment to reinforcing the Palestinian Authority’s efforts to preserve the Palestinian people’s rights and resources, particularly their legitimate right to establish an independent state, along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting focused on progress in joint efforts to end the war on Gaza, provide full, sustainable and unfettered access for humanitarian aid and relief, and save the people of the sector from the catastrophic humanitarian situation they have been enduring.

Palestinian President Abbas expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s positions in support of the Palestinian people, and valued the Egyptian leadership’s efforts to protect the Palestinian issue and prevent any endeavors to liquidate it. President Abbas stressed that he agrees with President El-Sisi’s intensive efforts to reach a ceasefire and spare the blood of the Palestinian people.
