CAIRO – 8 April 2024: A total of 401 humanitarian aid trucks, carrying essential supplies such as food, medicine, and fuel, entered the Gaza Strip on Monday, a high-ranking Egyptian official told Al Qahera news.
Egypt announced that it would ramp up the number of humanitarian aid trucks carrying food, medical supplies, and essential provisions for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, by increasing them to at least 300 trucks per day, starting on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
This directive aligns with the guidance of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, said Diaa Rashwan, Head of the State Information Service (SIS).
In addition, Rashwan noted that the number of aid trucks that entered northern Gaza from the Egyptian side during the holy month of Ramadan totaled 322, delivering various humanitarian and relief shipments.
He elaborated that since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal war against the Palestinians in Gaza, the total number of trucks entering the Gaza Strip from the Rafah crossing has reached 19,354.
These trucks have transported a significant amount of aid, including 19,952 tons of medical supplies, 10,435 tons of fuel, 123,453 tons of food, 26,692 tons of water, 44,103 units of other relief materials, 2,023 tons of tents and tarpaulins, and 123 fully equipped ambulances.
Furthermore, in addition to the aforementioned aid deliveries, a total of 3,764 injured and sick individuals from the Gaza Strip have entered Egypt for medical treatment, accompanied by 6,191 companions. Additionally, 66,759 foreign nationals and dual nationals, as well as 6,330 Egyptians, have also crossed into Egypt during this period.
Israel has killed 33,207 Palestinians and injured 75,933 others since the outbreak of its genocidal war against the besieged Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, said the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s branch in Gaza on Monday.
