WHO holds health action marathon in Cairo Monday

CAIRO - 9 October 2023: The World Health Organization held Monday morning a marathon in the Children’s Garden in Cairo, in the presence of Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, the Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, under the title “Health in Word and Action.”

 

This came on the sidelines of the opening of the 70th Eastern Mediterranean session of the World Health Organization global conference, which will be jeld this afternoon at the organization’s headquarters in Cairo.

 

The World Health Organization is scheduled to hold the 70th session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean at the WHO Regional Office in Cairo from Monday, 9 to Thursday, October 12, 2023. It has been decided to hold the 70th session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in person this year.

 

The World Health Organization said that the theme of the 70th session is “Moving forward towards a healthier future in the Eastern Mediterranean Region... promoting, protecting and providing health for all and by all.”

 

The organization added that the 70th session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean is scheduled to be broadcast online on the website for members of the delegation of member states who are unable to attend in person.  

 

Official documents for the session will be available in Arabic, English and French, and will be available on the Regional Committee website in September 2023.  

 

The organization indicated that the organization held the “Health in Words and Actions” event early this morning, Monday, October 9, in Cairo, and it will include a marathon attended by a number of organization officials, led by Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, and a number of Egyptian officials.

 

The opening session of the 70th session of the Eastern Mediterranean was held on the evening of the same day at the headquarters of the organization’s regional office in Cairo.
