CAIRO - 29 August 2023: Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, ensured that there is a continous monitoring of the situation of the new Corona mutant and its developments in Egypt.
He said that the occurrence of continuous and recurrent mutations of the Corona virus and other respiratory viruses "is normal, and is an scientifically and medically expected condition.”
Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din stated, during a telephone conversation with Extra News channel, that all countries of the world and the World Health Organization indicated that this new mutant is a strain of the Corona virus and it is more widespread.
He also pointed out that the world confirmed that the new strain has no serious repercussions and that the infection is simple and leads to usual symptoms, and there is intense follow up in Egypt to the status of the strain. The number of cases is few, and the symptoms are simple, and no epidemiological spread has been recorded, he added.
