CAIRO – 17 August 2023: Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad headed for Ethiopia to participate in the nineteenth session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) will be held from 14 to 18 August 2023 in Addis Ababa, said the Ministry in a statement on Thursday.
The 19th session comes under the theme “Seizing opportunities and enhancing collaboration to address environmental challenges in Africa”, and aims to enhance cooperation between various institutions and improve the implementation of regional and global environmental frameworks in order to face the challenges facing the African continent, said Fouad in the statement.
“The conference is an opportunity to strengthen the collective commitment of the African continent to the upcoming major global environmental events, including the various conferences of the parties to environmental agreements and the United Nations Environment Assembly, including the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in the UAE, and multilateral agreements related to combating desertification and biological diversity,” the Minister continued.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister of Environment will hold a number of bilateral meetings to discuss issues and challenges facing the continent and enhance joint cooperation.
