CAIRO – 30 July 2023: The National Dialogue's sessions on the draft bill on exercising political rights, draft bill on municipalities administration, and resolving the challenges pertaining to the activities of workers' syndicates kicked off Sunday, which is dedicated to political axis topics.
Rapporteur of the Municipalities Subcommittee at Egypt's National Dialogue Congress Samir Abdel Wahab asserted the necessity of taking into consideration the economic and social conditions when establishing municipal units in accordance with Egypt's constitution.
The session addressed the choice of municipalities leadership, whether through appointment or election, tiers of municipal units as well as their various roles and specializations and the role of localities in the new administrative capital.
The session also tackled the financial decentralization of municipal units, as Article 76 of the Constitution secures special resources for the units.
