CAIRO – 18 July 2017: The head of the Finance Department at 6th of October Educational Directorate Hoda Ahmed Hussein and six others were referred Tuesday to the Criminal Court for stealing LE 331 million ($ 18.44 million).

The arrangement included stealing public wealth, forgery, and deliberate harm of state money allocated to the directorate.

The corruption case was uncovered by the Inspection and Investigation Authority affiliated with the Illegal Earning Agency which received a report by the Administrative Surveillance Authority detecting the growth of Hussein’s wealth at a rate not matching her income.

The report included that she was entitled to writing and cashing check payments from banks on behalf of her institution so she wrote several checks for no valid reason. Some of the defendants work in the same directorate.

The accused gave Hussein the money they cashed. In order to hide that wealth, Hussein used the money to buy real estate, and lands and registered them in the name of her daughter and her brother.

Hussein and her brothers, who are also accused in the same lawsuit, were found to be owning many buildings in upper class neighborhoods, having shares in several companies, and conducting bank transactions that do not match their legal income levels, and it had all occurred since she had taken office.

All properties, cash, and real estate possessed by the accused have been frozen, and they were prohibited from leaving the country. The Illegal Earning Agency issued an order to arrest all of them.
