Sisi affirms Egypt’s support for efforts to find political solution to Yemeni crisis

CAIRO – 26 April 2023: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has stressed Egypt’s unwavering stance with regard to supporting the unity and sovereignty of the Yemeni state and the integrity of its national institutions.

This came as Sisi met on Wednesday with President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi in Egypt, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said in a statement.

Sisi also stressed encouraging all efforts aiming to find a sustainable and comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis in a way that preserves the unity of Yemen and coherence of its legitimate institutions.

For his part, Alimi expressed appreciation for the Egyptian stance in support of the Yemeni people as he briefed Sisi on the developments in Yemen and efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis.

Alimi also lauded the Egyptian support to efforts of reaching a political settlement of the Yemeni crisis in a way that helps restore security and stability in Yemen and alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crises that the country currently suffers from.

Egypt has been encouraging the ongoing efforts to reach a political settlement to the longstanding Yemeni crisis, which leads to comprehensive and sustainable peace in Yemen.

Moreover, Egypt hailed the prisoner swap that took place between the Yemeni government and the Houthis in mid-April and has been calling for the renewal of truce between the Iran-backed Houthis and the Yemeni government.
