CAIRO – 16 March 2023: The Ministry of Social Solidarity was transferred to its new premises in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine El-Qabbaj said.

In press statements on Thursday, Qabbaj noted that some departments of the ministry will start working in the new capital and the rest of the departments will be gradually transferred to NAC by the end of the month.

The minister hailed the government’s move to the New Administrative Capital as a quantum leap in the governmental action.

The relocation to the new capital includes upgrading the administrative work systems and digital transformation, she added.

The ministry has paid big attention to training and qualifying its cadres in preparation for moving the employees there, Qabbaj added.

In this regard, Qabbaj held the ministry’s first meeting in NAC in presence of ministerial leaderships and a delegation from the ministries concerned with preparing the work system in the ministries in NAC.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has issued directives for the ministries to relocate their headquarters to the new capital over the past years.

However, the move was delayed for years due to the coronavirus pandemic and the global repercussions.

The New Administrative Capital, under construction since 2015, is located east of Cairo and is set to house millions of people when completed.

In more than one occasion, Sisi affirmed that the new capital will embody the values of modern Egypt and is set to receive more than 50,000 public employees working in the ministries and other state bodies.

MENA contributed to the reporting.
