CAIRO – 17 October 2022: The Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse, headed by Minister of Social Solidarity Nevin Al-Kabbaj, is implementing awareness programs on the harms of drug abuse in many areas such as Asmarat, El Mahrousa, Rawdat El Sayeda, and Bashayer El Khair in Alexandria.
In 2022, the fund had been provided treatment services to 120,643 addictive patients.
The awareness programs comes through home visits to families to raise awareness about the detection of early cases of drug abuse, as well as how to treat free and in complete secrecy through the fund’s hotline “16023.”. Awareness programs are also implemented in the villages targeted by the presidential initiative a decent life “Haya Karima”. The Fund also organizes workshops for children from those areas and Haya Karima to train them on how to think positively, face problems and make sound decisions.

Earlier, Amr Othman, Assistant Minister of Solidarity and Director of the Fund for Combating and Treatment of Addiction and Abuse, said that the initiative also aims to highlight the negative effects of drug abuse, and correct misconceptions about drug abuse, such as the fact that drugs activate memory and help to forget worries and other concepts.
