CAIRO - 15 August 2022: Egypt is preparing Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital to be a model for the first green hospital in the country as part of Egypt's preparations for hosting the United Nations Climate Change Conference in its next twenty-seventh session. COP27 Sharm El Sheikh next November.
President of the General Authority for Health Care, Assistant Minister of Health and Population, General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, Ahmed El-Sobky, accompanied by Dr. Naima Al-Qusair, representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, visited Monday Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital in South Sinai to follow up on the preparations.
During the visit, the met with Major General Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai, at the headquarters of the General Diwan Governorate.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing operational steps to transform Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital as a model for the first green hospital in Egypt. The approval of quality from the Health Accreditation and Supervision Authority, in preparation for presenting the experience of Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital at the COP27 Climate Conference.
The meeting discussed ways of cooperation with the governorate and its executive body to support the implementation of projects related to the green transformation of Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital, as the first green, environment-friendly hospital in Egypt, in line with the Egyptian state’s interest in the issue of climate change, and the role of the Health Care Authority in adopting the green approach in the authority’s facilities. .

The meeting dealt with the follow-up to the start of the trial operation of the comprehensive health insurance system in South Sinai Governorate, where a memorandum of transferring the assets of health facilities in the governorate to the subordination of the General Authority for Health Care was signed.
