CAIRO – 25 July 2022: One day after Jordan's announcement of joining forces with Egypt to maintain food security, the ministers of both countries met Monday in Cairo to discuss partnerships in several sectors agreeing on eliminating all hindrances to trade exchange.
Participating ministers included – on the Egyptian side - Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry, Minister of Finance Mohamed Mait, Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea, and – on the Jordanian side – Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman al-Safady, Minister of Finance Mohamed al-Eses, and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef al-Shamaly.
Egypt and Jordan had agreed to draft, and activate - within one month - a joint action plan in the realm of food security, the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply announced in a statement on Sunday.
The new plan will be carried out in cooperation with the private sector, the statement said, adding that the two countries agreed to activate the memorandum of understanding on operating and developing the Jordanian- Egyptian logistic areas. The MoU was signed on the sideline of the convention of the High Egyptian-Jordanian Joint committee in February in Cairo, the statement noted.
