CAIRO – 2 July 2022: Egyptian Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of husband of TV Presenter Shaimaa Gamal found dead last week for four days pending investigation for allegedly killing her.
According to a statement by the prosecution on Friday, the husband, who is a member of a judicial authority, faces along with another suspect first-degree murder charges.
Security authorities announced arresting the husband in Suez governorate on Thursday after intensifying investigations and gathering the required information.
Last week, the Public Prosecution announced launching a probe into the murder of Gamal after her husband reported that she is missing.
The husband told the prosecution that his wife disappeared from in front of a commercial complex in October city in Giza without accusing anyone.
On Sunday, a person expressed to the prosecution willingness to give his testimony about the incident, saying he maintain a close relationship with the husband of Gamal, according to the prosecution.
The person said the husband is involved in the murder of Gamal over difference between them, affirming that he watched the circumstances of the murder and knows the place where Gamal is buried.
The prosecution obtained a permission from the judicial authority where the husband works to start investigations against him in the incident and ordered his arrest.
The prosecution said it followed the husband’s itinerary on the day of murder and found the body of the victim after being guided by the person, who said that he watched the crime.
It has ordered detaining the person for four days pending investigation after he admitted being part of the crime.
