CAIRO – 18 March 2022: The UK Embassy in Egypt announced an update to travel advice for Egypt, saying it no longer advices against travelling to southern South Sinai and Fayoum governorate.
“We no longer advise against all but essential travel to the southern part of South Sinai governorate and Fayoum governorate,” the embassy said in a statement on Thursday.
“This means it’s now easier than ever for the hundreds of thousands of Brits who visit Egypt every year to discover more of this amazing country,” the embassy added.
“With the removal of COVID-19 measures on return to the UK, now is the perfect time to book that holiday,” the embassy said, urging citizens to check the latest Travel Advice and stay in contact with their travel provider in this case.
In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on its Facebook page on Thursday, Ambassador Kamel welcomed the change of travel advice to such areas so as to comply with the stable security situation in the various Egyptian governorates and reflect the continuous and growing progress in bilateral relations between the two countries in the various fields.
He pointed out that such update in the travel advice for Egypt would enhance the efforts of the tourism companies operating in the UK market to expand its travel programs for the various tourist destinations in such areas, voicing hope over building on such positive step to beef up the tourism movement coming from the UK to Egypt in the coming phase.
The Egyptian diplomat also voiced resolve over working closely with the UK government and the private sector to restore former travel rates as the UK is among top tourism markets for Egypt.
He also highlighted the size of expansion in the infrastructure of several tourism destinations in Egypt whether in South Sinai or Red Sea resorts which are the most favorite destinations for UK tourists.
