CAIRO – 28 January 2022: The Health Ministry said it has reported 1,985 new coronavirus infections on Thursday, upping the total number of confirmed cases reported in Egypt since the beginning of the outbreak to 417,453.
 
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 36 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 22,496.
 
As many as 1,991 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 351,418 so far, the spokesman said.
 
The United States of America announced on Sunday sending to Egypt a new delivery of 1.8 million doses of Pfizer vaccine, funded by the US government.
 
“So far, the US has delivered more than 21 million high-quality U.S. vaccine doses that will help protect the people of Egypt from coronavirus,” said the US embassy in Cairo.
 
On 16 January 2022, Egypt received 3 million doses of Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine, provided by the US, through COVAX in cooperation with GAVI Alliance.
