CAIRO – 30 December 2021: By the end of 2021, Egypt has administered a total of 55,662,624 million doses of the coronavirus vaccines, according to Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on Wednesday.

The minister said the country has administered 34,606,074 first vaccine shots and 21,056,550 second vaccine shots.

He added that the country has imported a total of 119,288,130 vaccine doses with 64,335,246 still available for use.

Cairo International Airport received on Saturday more than 1.9 million Moderna and Pfizer coronavirus vaccine doses.

According to informed sources, the shipment included 462,000 Moderna doses and 1,501,000 Pfizer doses. The shipment was handed to the Ministry of Health, according to the sources.

The country is currently struggling with the fourth wave of the pandemic, reporting so far a total of 383,857 cases and 21,695 deaths, according to the latest official count on Friday, since the pandemic started in Egypt in February last year.
