Egypt’s Sisi, Jordan’s Crown Prince talk regional developments
CAIRO – 9 November 2021: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Tuesday Jordanian Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II at the Ittihadiya Palace, said presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
Ambassador Rady stated that the president asked the Crown Prince to convey his greetings to his brother, King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, praising the strength of the historical relations between Egypt and Jordan, and the brotherly ties that unite the two countries.
For his part, the Jordanian Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of the King of Jordan to President El-Sisi, expressing his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s leadership and people, and Jordan’s welcome to the existing level of joint coordination with Egypt to deal with the various crises experienced by the countries of the region.
He also praised in Egypt’s pivotal role in solving Arab issues and strengthening solidarity among Arab countries.
Rady further added that during the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance aspects of bilateral cooperation, especially with regard to cooperation in the fields of tourism, economy, trade exchange and small and medium enterprises, as well as issues of combating terrorism and extremist ideology.
In this context, the Egyptian President praised the Jordanian Crown Prince’s participation in several previous sessions of the World Youth Forum, stressing Egypt’s keenness to strengthen this important forum.
The meeting touched on means of fostering spheres of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Jordan, mainly in the fields of tourism, economy, trade exchange and small and medium-sized enterprises in addition to issues related to combating terrorism and extremist ideology.
Both leaders agreed upon the importance of working to revive the peace process in order to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, in a way that guarantees the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people in accordance with the principle of two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two sides also stressed the importance of uniting and concerted efforts of Arab countries to address the crises in some countries of the region, especially in Libya and Syria, within the framework of respect for their sovereignty and unity and with the aim of ending the human suffering of their brotherly peoples.
Sisi and Jordan's CP also discussed means of boosting cooperation with Iraq under the trilateral cooperation mechanism with both sides reiterating their condemnation of the failed assassination attempt against the Iraqi prime minister.
