CAIRO – 3 May 2021: Several cafés in Cairo have been closed during the past days due to violating coronavirus precautionary measures including serving shisha [hookah].
According to Cairo governorate, a wide campaign has been carried out to inspect a number of violating cafes. All of them were closed according to the authorities for endangering the lives of the citizens.
Also, Ministry of interior said that 15841 mask rule violations have been detected over the past 24 hours.
Of all the violators, 15800 paid fines for not wearing masks outdoors; a measure considered most effective for reducing the spread of coronavirus.
Legal action has been taken against the remaining 4 who failed to pay their fine.
The Health Ministry said late Sunday that 1,051 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 229,635.
In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 67 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 13,469
As many as 800 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 172,342 so far, the spokesman said.
No cases of the Indian Covid-19 variant have so far been detected in Egypt, the presidential health advisor affirmed Monday.
Mohamed Awad Tag elDin, in a telephone conversation with Extra News channel, said the Indian variant has been recorded in 17 world countries.
