CAIRO - 26 April 2020: Egypt's Interior Ministry stated Monday that 11,710 masks-on violations have been detected over the past 24 hours.

Of all the violators, 11,644 paid fines for not wearing masks; a measure considered most effective at reducing the spread of coronavirus.

Legal measures have been taken against the remaining 66 who failed to pay the fine. Approximately 760 violations have also been reported among stores that did not abide by closure rules.

Another 248 cases of hookah trading have as well been reported. All this is in line with a Cabinet's decision to take precautionary measures to protect citizens against Covid-19.

It should be noted that Egypt has reported 953 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 222,523.
