CAIRO-18 February 2021: Zamalek achieved a 2-1 victory over Ismaily on Wednesday night in the Egyptian Premier League.

Zamalek maintained their position atop of the Egyptian League table with 8 points ahead of Al Ahly, who still have three games to play.

After a goalless draw in the first half, Zamalek opened the score in the opening minutes of the second half by Youssef Obama.

The visitors equalized the score 13 minutes later by Shoukry Nagib.

Ismaily had several scoring opportunities after scoring and they were close from adding the second goal but Zamalek defense stepped up to block all their attempts.

Zamalek's Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi scored the winning goal for Zamalek from a superb screamer that found the back of the net, only two minutes before the final whistle.

"We did not have a good game and I am not satisfied with the performance. However, we managed to get the three points and stay atop of the table ahead of our trip to Senegal." Zamalek's Director of Football Ashraf Kasim said after the game.

Zamalek are set to face Senegal's Teungueth in Matchday 2 of the CAF Champions League group stage on Tuesday.
