CAIRO-21 January 2020: Egypt handball national team head coach Roberto Parrondo spoke after the team's victory over the Russian Handball Federation on Wednesday.

The Pharaohs defeated RHF 28-23 to secure their first victory in the main round after a solid performance.

"The win was important especially after the loss against Sweden. We're doing well and the team has gelled together after spending so much time together, even if we haven't played many friendly matches before the tournament." said Parrondo.

Egypt lost the last group stage match against Sweden, which made their mission to reach the quarter-finals harder but the Pharaohs are now back to the right track after the victory over RHF.

Parrondo added "We will keep our focus on for the next matches, and we will take each game step by step."

Egypt and Slovenia are second in the main round group with four points, one point behind the leaders Sweden.

Egypt hosts the competition between 13 and 31 January 2021, with the participation of 32 teams for the first time in the competition's history.
