Cairo – 28 September 2019: Egypt national team new manager, Hossam El Badry, announced on Saturday that Liverpool Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, will be the national team new captain.

The decision proves the importance of the Egyptian winger to the national team.

Following his appointment, El Badry stated that Salah is a vital player to the national team and he will contact him to find solutions to his problems with the former EFA board members.

Salah was highly criticized after the national team’s early exit from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt.

The team was eliminated from the round of 16 after losing 1-0 to South Africa and the EFA board decided to sack the national team’s Mexican manager, Javier Aguirre, and then they resigned from their position.

Salah led the national team to reach 2018 World Cup for the third time in the history and the first time since 1990.

Salah’s shoulder injury that he picked during 2018 UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid affected his participation at the competition.

El Badry aims to lead the team towards 2022 World Cup.
