CAIRO – 8 August 2019: Liverpool defender, Joe Gomez, believes that Liverpool will face a tough test at the opening game of the Premier League new season against Norwich City on Friday night.

“I definitely think they'll be a tough side, the Championship is a very good league, I experienced it when I was younger.” Gomez said on Thursday.

Norwich City returns to the Premier League after three years of absence after achieving the Championship title last season.

Gomez experienced playing at the second tier of the English football in 2014 when he was representing his childhood club, Charlton Athletic.

Gomez added “It will be the first time back since Madrid. It's always special playing at Anfield, I think that's one of massive pluses at being at this club.”

Liverpool won 2019 UEFA Champions League title, having defeated Tottenham 2-0 thanks to two goals from Mohamed Salah and DivockOrigi.

Liverpool fans hope to win the Premier League this season and put an end to 30 years of absence as they last won the title in 1990.

Liverpool are expecting a tough competition, especially with the defending champions, Manchester City.
