CAIRO – 28 March 2018: Manchester City English winger, Raheem Sterling, asks the English fans to have positive feelings about their national team ahead of their participation in the World Cup in Russia.

“I feel sometimes there's a bit too much negativity. I would love to hear some positive notes going in, just to make the boys know that everyone's behind them," Sterling told BBC Radio on Tuesday.

Sterling, 23, is expected to be among England starting line-up at the World Cup after his great performance this season.

The English winger played a great role with Man City this season; Man City leads the League with 16 points clear, reaching the Champions League quarter finals.

Sterling has scored 20 goals at all competitions including 15 goals in the league.

The winger added, “If you want your country to do well, as everyone says, bring a positive light into it; make the boys go off to the World Cup with clear heads, knowing everyone's behind them, everyone's with them.”

England players hope to achieve their nation’s second World Cup title as England only won the 1966 World Cup title when England hosted the competition.

England plays in Group G alongside Panama, Belgium and Tunisia.
