CAIRO – 27 March 2018: Ahead of their clash on Tuesday night at a friendly game at Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich, Greece’s national team German manager, Michael Skibbe, showed his admiration to Egypt’s Hector Cuper.

“Egypt has a great manager who has much experience and has had many achievements during his managerial career,” Skibbe told the press ahead of the game.

Cuper led Egypt to qualify to 2018 World Cup in Russia to end 28 years of absence as Egypt last featured in the World Cup in 1990 in Italy.

Skibbe added, “Egypt has an amazing group of players and I know some players who play in England. They are a very strong team and I expect them to achieve the World Cup in the summer.”

The German manager has been linked with coaching Egypt’s giants, Al-Ahly in 2009 after Al-Ahly’s Portuguese manager Manuel Jose’s departure; however, the manager and the club did not reach an agreement.

“We are ready for the game and we hope to achieve a good result against Egypt. I will count on different players this game and I think Egypt will do the same,” Skibbe said of the game.

Greece lost 1-0 to Switzerland on Friday and Egypt lost 2-1 to Portugal.

Greece failed to qualify to 2018 World Cup after losing the play offs game against Croatia 4-1.
