CAIRO – 27 March 2018: Former Bayern Munich captain Lothar Matthäus expects Liverpool to win the UEFA Champions League title under their German manager, Jurgen Klopp.

“For me, it is a team that can win the Champions League in two months in Kiev. Liverpool has the mentality and an atmosphere on the ground,” Matthäus told Liverpool’s official website on Monday.

Liverpool reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and will play against Manchester City. The first game is scheduled on April 4 in Liverpool and the second game will be a week later in Manchester.

Matthäus praised Klopp, saying, “He is working very hard. His team is always ready to fight for 90 minutes and they are in good condition. He finds the right players, especially in the offense, who can make the difference on the highest level.”

Matthäus featured in a friendly charity game between former Bayern Munich players and former Liverpool players on Saturday at Anfield, which ended with a 5-5 draw.

Matthäus added, “It was my first touch of Anfield, my first game here at Liverpool. I liked it; I enjoyed it. We saw a nice game with a lot of goals, with a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium.”
