CAIRO – 2 January 2018: The absence of Philippe Coutinho in what, for some, was to be his last game with Liverpool, has triggered all the rumors about his future.

Liverpool hardly won 2-1 against Burnley in the 22nd round of the English Premier League.

Coutinho’s exclusion from the squad by Jürgen Klopp for the match against Burnley created a lot of uncertainty, since the club did not give any explanation regarding the player.

The German coach made seven changes in the starting line-up with respect to the previous game against Leicester City.

Many saw in the absence of Coutinho a clue about his imminent signing for Barcelona, but Klopp denied it, assuring shortly before the start of the match that both the Brazilian and the Egyptian, Mohamed Salah, were injured – a circumstance that had been kept secret until then.

The fall of Coutinho also coincided with the scandal formed by a mistake by Nike, who announced Coutinho’s signing for Barca on Saturday night, which angered the owners of Liverpool, who plan to take action against sports firm Nike.

Liverpool visits Everton in the Merseyside derby in the FA Cup on Friday, January 5.
