CAIRO – 20 December 2017: The national team weightlifter Heba Saleh won three gold medals in the 48-kilogram category competitions in the clean-and-jerk and snatch and the total weight at the Afro-Asian & Arab Weightlifting Championships hosted by Egypt.

Hayam Yehia as well won three gold medals in the category of the 44-kilogram, while Radwa Alaa won another three gold medals for Egypt in the 48-kilogram competitions.

The Afro-Asian & Arab Weightlifitng Championships started on Wednesday morning at the Cairo International Stadium and will last until December 22.

Ten countries will participate in the championships in addition to Egypt. Those countries are Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates.

Mohamed Ihab, the Egyptian gold medalist of the last World Championships held in the United States, is schedueled to participate in Thursday’s competitions at 4:00 p.m. Cairo local time.
