CAIRO – 10 November 2017 : Former Barcelona captain, Xavi Hernandez, announced on Thursday that this season is his last season as a football player.

“I have had the luck of not having injuries and I think my career has gone down progressively," Xavi told Mundo Leo on Thursday.

Xavi, 37, spent most of his career as a footballer inside his childhood club, Barcelona. He played for the team from 1998 to 2015 before leaving to play for Qatari club Al Sadd.

Xavi added “I also see that I am getting more tired and that it is harder for me to recover and I am sure that it is my last year as a football player.”

Speaking about his future after retirement, he said, “I have the idea of issuing a license and becoming a coach next year."

Xavi has achieved many titles during his career, including 8 Spanish League titles, 3 Spanish Cup titles and four UEFA Champions League titles.
