Egyptian team hopes to achieve first title – ebbfed.com

8 August 2017: Egypt defeated Zimbabwe 55-46 in their second game in the U-16 Women’s AfroBasket held in Mozambique, achieving their first win in the event.

Egypt lost their first game in the tournament against Mali 60-33 after a bad performance by the Egyptian team.

Egypt hopes to win their remaining games to qualify for the U-17 Women's World Cup held in Belarus. The best two teams in the competition will qualify to the World Cup.
Efypt’s squad for the competition consists of Nada Yasser, Gana Haitham, Habiba Hatem, Salma Amr, Nour Sherif, Hana Nabil, Engy Salah, Salma Hesham, Fatma Hany, Yara Osama, Malak Khaled and Reem Ali.

Mali dominated the competition since its inception in 2009, as they won four titles, while Egypt lost three consecutive finals against Mali.

Mozambique is hosting the competition from August 5-13 for the second time. It also hosted the competition in 2013, making it the first nation to host the competition twice.
