Egypt secured a late 2-2 draw against Ghana on Thursday night in a roller-coaster game in Matchday 2 of AFCON group stage.

The draw means that the Pharaohs still have a chance to reach the second round of the competition with two points ahead of the final round.

Ghana had the lead in the game twice thanks to a brace from Mohammed Kudus but every time the Egyptians found their way to equalize with Omar Marmoush scoring the first goal and Mostafa Mohamed adding the second.

Kudus was frustrated after the match as he believes that Ghana deserved more than a point.

"We made careless mistakes. Now we'll have to get back to work, win the next one and then see what happens” The Ghanian striker said.

On the other hand, Egypt manager Rui Vitória was happy with the reaction of his players despite being behind twice to Ghana, who had the support of the majority in the stands.

"“I have full confidence in my team, I saw men this evening who fought to the end only victory eluded us. We showed great qualities this evening against a revitalized Ghana. The players applied our instructions perfectly. There was room to win the match.” The Portuguese coach stated in the post-game press conference.

The group leaders, Cape Verde, will face Mozambique on Friday in a game that will shape the future of the group.

Egypt will finish their group stage games on Tuesday against Cape Verde while Ghana will challenge Mozambique.
