Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan will be the theatre for one of mouth-watering matches in the 2023 AFCON as Egypt takes on Ghana tonight with the two teams having no option but winning to continue their journey in the competition.

Before the start of the tournament, everyone expected the game between Egypt and Ghana to decide the top of the group but after their frustrating start in the competition, it turned out to be a do-or-die match for the only two teams in the group that have previously lifted the trophy.

Egypt secured a last-minute draw against Mozambique as Mohamed Salah equalized the score from the spot in the added time of the match while Ghana suffered a late loss against Cape Verde to stay a bottom of the table with no points.

"We have one goal against Ghana. There is no alternative to winning. We are focused on ourselves and we will not look at the results of the other teams. We have a strong group with so many great players and we are ready to give everything on the pitch." Mohamed El Shenawy, Egypt national team goalkeeper, stated.

Egypt and Ghana met on four previous occasions in the competition with the Pharaohs winning two matches, including the famous 1-0 win in the 2010 AFCON final, which secured Egypt's seventh title in the competition.

The game starts at 10:00 PM (Cairo time).
