Drama in Cairo Derby ends by a 2-2 draw between Al Ahly & Zamalek

CAIRO, 20 June 2022: Al-Ahly tied with Zamalek 2-2, during the match that brought them together on Sunday, at ‘Al Ahly WE Al Salam’ Stadium, which has been postponed from the 20th round of the Premier League.

Al Ahly’s goals came through Mohamed Sherif and Salah Mohsen, while Ben Sharqi and Shikabala scored Zamalek’s goals.

Zamalek's balance increased to 45 points from 21 games, and Al-Ahly's balance increased to 43 points collected from 18 games.

Al-Ahly started with a formation: Mohamed Al-Shennawi, Yasser Ibrahim, Ramy Rabea, Amr Al-Soleya, Hamdi Fathi, Mohamed Hani, Ali Maaloul, Ahmed Abdel Qader, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Percy Tau and Mohamed Sharif.

On the other hand, Zamalek started with a formation: Mohamed Awad, Mohamed Abdel Ghani, Mahmoud Hamdi Al-Wensh, Mohamed Abdel Shafi, Abdullah Gomaa, Emam Ashour, Mohamed Ashraf Roqa, Ashraf Bin Sharqi, Ahmed Sayed Zizou, Sayed Abdullah “Neymar” and Omar Al-Saeed.

The match was led by the Spanish referees’ team, led by Jose Luis Muniera.

Al-Ahly started the first half actively, and Mohamed Sherif succeeded in scoring the goal for the Reds in the 13th minute, after Mohamed Abdel-Ghani made a mistake and tried to return the ball to Mohamed Awad, but Sherif took the ball and brilliantly put it in the Zamalek net.

Al-Ahly continued to dominate the match and missed a double opportunity to score a second goal through Mohamed Magdy Afsha, but Awad saved the ball and returned to Ahmed Abdel Qader, who shot it away from the net as well.

The second half began in Zamalek with Shikabala entering the game instead of Omar Al-Saeed, as Hussein Al-Shahat participated in the place of Percy Tau.

Zamalek appeared attacking at the beginning of this half through Shikabala, Zizou and Ben Sharqi, and Al-Ahly tried to score a second goal through Al-Shahat, Sherif and Afsha.

 Bin Sharqi scored the equalizer for Zamalek in the 69th minute after receiving a good cross from Shikabala, which Bin Sharqi headed in the Shennawy’s net.

Shikabala scored a second goal for Zamalek in the 75th minute after a beautiful run from Youssef Osama Nabih who crossed the ball but Shennawy failed to deal with the cross.

Salah Mohsen and Taher Mohamed Taher participated in the place of Mohamed Hani and Ahmed Abdel Qader.

Salah Mohsen managed to score the equalizer for Al-Ahly from the first touch after he managed to deal with Taher Mohamed Taher's cross.
