CAIRO-3 June 2021: Zamalek basketball first team delegation touched down at Cairo International Airport in the early hours of Thursday after a successful participation in the inaugural edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Zamalek players returned to Cairo with the competition's trophy after becoming the first team to win the prestigious competition.

"I am very happy that we won the title. It is an honour for me to play alongside all these great players and I am so happy that I was able to help my teammates." Zamalek's youngster Mohab Yasser told Zamalek TV.

The White Knights defeated Tunisia's Monastir 76-63 in the competition's final at Kigali Arena to clinch the title.

Yasser commented on the victory in the final saying"It was a difficult game and they took an early lead but we closed the gap and controlled the game. It is the most important game in my life and I was so happy after the match."

The BAL is the continent's top-tier club competition and it is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
