CAIRO – 28 June 2017: Airport officials stated that they have not received any updated communication from the U.S. Civil Airline Authorities regarding the status of citizens from the six Muslim-majority countries on U.S. president Donald Trump’s travel ban list.

This follows the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to partially enforce Trump’s executive order to limit travel for citizens of Sudan, Somalia, Iran, Syria, Libya and Yemen, sources at Cairo International Airport stated on Tuesday.

The sources added that three Sudanese citizens, four Yemeni citizens and one Iraqi left Cairo International Airport on Tuesday for the U.S. on Egypt Air Flight 985, after their data was reviewed and checked with the U.S. Civil Airline Authorities, which delivered no communication to prevent these individuals from travelling.

The U.S. Supreme Court has stipulated that citizens from the six countries must submit a legal document proving that they have a “bona fide relationship with any person or entity in the United States.”

The court allowed some parts of Trump’s travel ban to go into effect and oral arguments regarding the case will be heard by the court this fall, according to U.S. news agency CCN.

On January 27, 2017 U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order halting the admission of all refugees and temporarily banning travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries to the North American country. Soon after, a series of court decisions halted the ban.
