There is no doubt that Lebanese cuisine is quite a tantalizing treat for the taste buds and the appetite. Known for its rich flavors, the abundance of its ingredients, and the variety of dishes it offers, it is only fair to crave it quite often. In search of an authentic Lebanese culinary experience, we decided on trying Mezzeh at Le Meridien Cairo Airport. Vibrant and modern, the restaurant offers a comfy yet chic setup in both indoor and outdoor areas. As we entered, we were greeted by a hospitable team, ready to take us through the menu and its new entries.

For appetizers, starters, and salads we decided to try the Zaytone Salad, Grilled Chicken Salad, and Kufta Pide. Happily, unlike most grilled chicken, the Grilled Chicken Salad was so tender, juicy, perfectly marinated, and bursting with a mix of subtle flavors tossed in tomatoes, lettuce, and Rocca leaves. The Zaytone Salad was so on point; the olives had a zesty and not too salty flavor, thanks to the pomegranate and lemon that gave it such a nice twist. Now, if you want to try something truly different, you should definitely go for the Kufta Pide; the grilled lamb kufta is rolled with pita dough and mozzarella, and covered with a light tomato sauce. The dish offers a creative touch to the traditional Lebanese kufta.

Moving to the main course, we couldn’t help but take our time to pick from a wide array of dishes until we decided on Mezzeh Seafood Platter, a tajin of seafood in red sauce served with rice. The dish gave our taste buds a treat with its mix of flavors, each so distinctive yet doesn’t take away the taste of other ingredients. We also tried the Ouzi Lamb Shank, extremely tender and delicious lamb meat  served over special rice and nestled in a crispy crust.

Lastly, it was time for some dessert. We tried Dates Pudding with special rose water cream, coconut, raisins, and almonds served with pistachio ice cream; trust us, you will never have enough. We also had another succulent dessert, Zagzaga, a creamy semolina tart filled with dates, pistachio and served with mastic ice cream; it is definitely a must-try.

What we enjoyed the most about this dining experience is how Mezzeh adds a modern twist to traditional Lebanese cuisine without compromising authenticity. So, next time you want to treat yourself to an exceptional Lebanese dinner with a modern and creative touch, Mezzeh is your place to go.
