CAIRO – 26 August 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem launched the forum for the theatrical initiative, The Egyptian Author, organized by the Theater Art House's Alexandria Theater Troupe led by director Mohamed Morsi.

The initiative aims to produce ten short theatrical performances, to video-tape them and broadcast them on the Ministry of Culture’s YouTube channel during September, October and November 2020.

Abdel Dayem said that The Egyptian Author Initiative Forum targets producing pure Egyptian theatrical performances that have not previously been presented to support and enrich Egyptian theater in a way that contributes to the consolidation of the national identity.

She added that the scripts that were chosen convey many lofty principles and noble values in an attractive and enjoyable style and with integrated theater techniques, noting that theater is an effective means to elevate conscience and refine behavior.

For his part, Ismail Mukhtar, head of the Theater Art House, said that the selected performances are filmed at the Bayram el-Tunisi Theater in Alexandria from September 3 to November 9. Each show is presented for three nights on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays of every week.

The shows include “El-Beit” [The House] written and directed by Gamal Yaqout, “Khareg El-Magmoo’” [Outside the Calculations] written and directed by Ahmed Abdul-Gawad, and “Thahab el-Leil” written by Ahmed Askar and directed by Saeed Qabil, among others.
