'Khalek Motafael'to be performed after Eid

CAIRO - 21 May 2019: Rehearsals are currently being held in the National stage in Attaba for the new play “KhalekMotafael” (Stay Positive) for Voltaire. The play is the production of the National Theater Group affiliated with the Theater Art House.

The play is set to be performed after Eid el-Fitr. It is inspired by Voltaire’s Novel “Candide”.

Director of the play Islam Imam stated that the play is based on a novel by Voltaire which dates back to the 18thcentury. The play has been presented several times worldwide in the form of an operetta.

The novel revolves around a person who combats all the problems and diseases in his society by optimism.

The play is starring Sameh Hussein, Sami Maghawari, Sahar el-Sayeghand Ashraf Abdul Ghafour, in addition to a few members of the National Theater Group."KhalekMotafael" is directed by Islam Imam.

François-Marie Arouet, AKA Voltaire, was a French enlightenment writer. Voltaire was also a historian and a philosopher known for his wit, criticism of the Roman Catholic Church, and his advocacy of freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the separation of church and the state.
