CAIRO - 9 April 2019: The official jury of Alexandria Short Film Festival announced theawards winners during the closing ceremony of the festival’s fifth edition held at Feryal cinema in Raml Station in the presence of observers, journalists and art critics.

In the feature film competition, “El Hakika” (The Truth) won the Golden Hypatia Award. The film is directed by Marcel el-Eid and is a Syrian-Canadian joint production.

Christophe Saber's film “Tadnis” (Desecration) won the silver award. The film is an Egyptian-French-Swiss production. In addition, the Egyptian film “Ertebak” (confusion) received a special mention. The film is directed by Mohammed Hussein.

As for the documentary filmscompetetion, the Egyptian film "Karakeeb" won the Golden Award. The film is directed by Ahmed Nader and Hala al-Qoussy.

The film representing Palestine,“Tasharod”,won the Silver Award. The Iraqi-Belgium film directed by Adel Khaled received a special mention.

Furthermore, in the student competition, the jury decided to grant"The Long Return Journey" the Golden Hypatia Award, meanwhile the film “Wesal” for director Ezzedine el-Fiky won the Silver Award.
