CAIRO - 24 May 2017: The second edition of the Arab Rock Festival, hosted by the Egyptian alternative rock band Malaaz, will be staging Cairo’s Darb 1718 on Friday May 26.

The festival features Arabic metal music and hard rock in efforts to integrate alternative music in the Egyptian and Arab cultures through introducing various bands in the field, according to Darb 1718’s official page.

The second edition of the festival features six Egyptian bands including Malaaz, Khayal, Code Masr, Sada That, Telepoetic, and ZigZag.

Alternative Rock band Malaaz was established in 2014 by Mohamed Abdel-Razik. The band focuses on introducing alternative rock featuring Arabic lyrics, according to the band’s official page.

The band is comprised of composer, guitarist and lyricist Abdel-Razik, Amr Beshr on the lead guitar, lead singer Maged Amer, Moataz el-Nashar on the bass guitar, and Ahmed el-Gohary on the drums.
