'The Beguiled' to screen at Balcon Heliopolis

CAIRO – 16 October 2017: “The Beguiled” will screen at Balcon Heliopolis on Friday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The movie, directed by Sofia Coppola and written by Thomas Cullinan, Albert Maltz and Irene Kamp was first released in 2017.

It revolves around the dilapidated mansion of Miss Martha Farnsworth's Seminary for Young Ladies that, despite the American Civil War in 1864, is still running, occupied by a teacher and five students. However, when a young student stumbles upon Corporal John McBurney, a wounded Union deserter on the verge of death, the already frail balance of the mansion’s system will be disrupted, as the hesitant headmistress decides to take him while he heals from his injury.

The film’s heroes are portrayed by Colin Farrell (Corporal McBurney), Nicole Kidman (Miss Martha), Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, and Addison Riecke.

“The Beguiled” won the Best Director award in Cannes Film Festival and Halfway Award in the International Online Cinema Awards.

It was also nominated for Palme d'Or, ICP Award, The Wilf Family Foundation Award, ARRI/OSRAM Award, and Sydney Film Prize.
