CAIRO – 30 September 2017: For the first time, the annual K-pop World Festival was live-streamed on YouTube and Twitter on September 29, at the Changwon Sports Complex Stadium in South Korea.

The festival included famous K-pop bands, such as Twice, BTS, Ailee, ASTRO, Monsta X and NCT127, who played in real time alongside each other.

International acts from 13 different countries also participated in the festival, singing covers and live performances. The countries included Nigeria, Malaysia and Hungary, and the festival featured acts like Indonesia's Tiffani Afifa and Alphiandi, Madagascar’s Antsa, Russia's PartyHard, Nigera’s Fragiles Dance Crew and many more.

Twitter also launched the Twitter Popular Choice Award to encourage the interaction between the 13 country teams and K-pop fans, where the award will be won by whichever team gets the most likes and re-tweets.
