CAIRO - 5 September 2017: Chinese Cultural Attache in Cairo Shi Yuewen asserted that the coming phase would witness more cooperation with Egypt in view of the progress achieved in the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

The Chinese diplomat's remarks were made during his visit earlier in the day to the project's site where he was welcomed by the project's general director and head supervisor of the still under-construction Grand Egyptian Museum Tarek Tawfiq.

In statements on Tuesday, Tawfiq said the visit comes as part of the Chinese government keenness to follow up the recent archaeological work at the GEM, which is due to be partially inaugurated in 2018.

The Chinese cultural attache had met with Minister of Antiquities Tarek el Anani in July and discussed with him means of bolstering cooperation between the two countries in the archaeological field and museums' operation
