CAIRO – 19 August 2017: Cult Animation Double-Features will be screened at Cimatheque on August 19. The features run until August 26.

There will be two Animation movies on displayed. The first is Perfect Blue, and the second is called Alice.

Perfect Blue (1997) is a Japanese psycho thriller animation movie. It was directed by Satoshi Kon and written by Sadayuki Murai.

The movie is based on a novel entitled "Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis which was written by Yoshikazu Takeuchi.

The story portrays the life of a lead singer named Mima Kirigoe. She wants to be a famous actress, but she faces many psychological problems due to the humiliation she faced. Nightmares chase her in her sleep and while she is awake. She becomes a part of an internal conflict between her soul and another imaginary character called Real Mima.

Madonna pays a tribute to this iconic movie. She employed a number of "Perfect Blue" scenes in her "What It Feels like for a Girl" remix in Drowned World Tour in 2001.

"Alice" (1988) is another adaptation for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865).

It is a dark fantasy animation movie, written by the Czech writer Jan Švankmaje and directed by Peter-Christian Fueter.

In this film a young girl finds herself in another reality after chasing a white rabbit. She faces many supernatural events while searching for an escape.

The novel was adapted for different genres of art such as: TV Series, Movies, Songs, theatrical performances and poems.

Both movies are considered important stages in the progress of the animation world.
