CAIRO - 1 August 2017: Acclaimed Palestinian director Elia Suleiman has been chosen as jury president for this year's 54th annual International Antalya Film Festival, which will be held from October 21-27 in Turkey.

Suleiman has previously been on the jury for numerous other festivals such as Cannes. He is known for films such as “Chronicle of a Disappearance (2000),” “Divine Intervention (2002),” “The Time that Remains (2009)” and “7 Days in Havana (2012).”

His films tend to have a poetic nature to them, discuss war and people's relation to it, while blending comedy and tragedy seamlessly. He is also known for his academic accomplishments and social projects.

Born in Nazareth in 1960, Suleiman would eventually move to New York where many of first films were shot between 1981 and 1993.
