CAIRO – 1 August 2017: The 29th International Al-Assad Book Fair will be inaugurating on Wednesday in Damascus, Syria where 150 publishing houses will be participating, according to the book fair’s official website.

Approximately 100 Syrian publishing houses are to participate in the fair that will run from August 2 to August 12, according to a Syrian news agency. This is the second round during post-war Syria that has been named ‘Continuity’ and will include seminars and culture lectures, among other activities.

The first round of the book fair was launched in 1985 and has been launching on an annual basis until 2012, due to Syrian war; however it was held again in 2016 with the participation of several foreign publishing houses including Russian, Iranian, and Lebanese houses.
