CAIRO – 31 July 2017: The famous autographed photo of renowned physicist Albert Einstein sticking his tongue out was sold on Thursday by the Nate D. Sanders auction house in Los Angeles for $125,000 (LE 2.2 million) to an anonymous person, according to the Livescience website.

It is reported that the photo was taken when a group of paparazzi were asking Einstein to strike a pose after leaving his 72nd birthday party at Princeton University on March 14, 1951. Photographer Arthur Sasse of the wire service UPI captured the shot once the physicist stuck his tongue out, the website mentioned.

Einstein signed the photo “A. Einstein .51.”, and it became one of the most popular photos ever of Einstein and is commonly found on some restaurant and cafe walls. Einstein himself loved the photo so much that he requested nine photos from UPI for personal use.

According to the Petapixel website, one of these signed photos was sold at an auction for $74,324 in June 2009, making it the most expensive Einstein photo in the world.
