During his appearance on Sahebat El Saada with veteran host Esaad Younes, Youssef El Sherif revealed that his real name is Mohamed Ismail, sharing how he adopted the name “Youssef El Sherif” during the filming of 7 Warakat Koutchina, a name that later became one of the most recognizable in Egyptian drama.
He also showed a deeply personal side, speaking about his cat, Badr, whom he described as more than just a pet, calling him his closest companion and only friend.
Addressing the possibility of a sequel to his hit film El Alamy, El Sherif expressed his enthusiasm, saying he would gladly return if a strong and fresh idea emerges. He recalled filming scenes with Spain’s Valencia team and revealed he was invited to attend the opening match of the Spanish league this year. He also noted that the film helped boost Egyptian interest in La Liga, with club officials even suggesting a second installment.
On football, El Sherif commented on Al Ahly SC’s recent dip in performance. As a former player and lifelong supporter, he acknowledged the concern but emphasized that fluctuations are natural for any team. He stressed that Al Ahly’s true strength lies in its team spirit rather than individual talent, an element that often makes the difference in crucial moments. While praising the current squad’s abilities, he noted that when this spirit fades, the team can appear far from its dominant form.
